The Company
www.PeachorLemon.com is an online consumer car survey where owners can make comments about their cars. As well as being able to publish their views, owners can rate their current vehicle - each car is rated from 1-5 peaches (for winners) or lemons (for losers). The website concept was devised by Kevin Gardner, a Graphic Designer and car enthusiast, to help give consumers more knowledge and power to deal with car dealers or manufacturers.
The Challenge
The original PeachorLemon website that had only static pages and a single web form with no underlying database to hold the rapidly growing comments entered by users. Due to overwhelming public interest Kevin decided to improve the site and make it more dynamic.
The Solution
Kevin approached Ru-Soft, Sapphire Group's facility, for a quote and analysis of the work required. The final specification included the addition of a database, the creation of new forms, a user forum and online payment facilities. Also a number of improvements were added such as a 'cars for sale' advertisement system, automatic rating of the best and worst top 5 cars, advanced search of cars by different criteria, and generation of users email reports on offensive comments between others. Two developers and one web-designer were dedicated to the project to deliver a streamlined, easy to use and fast website using Perl scripts and MySQL database.
The Outcome
The new interactive website went live on 1st December 2004, just three months after its inception. Since then Kevin has received many praises from satisfied customers who found the new site to be well designed. Kevin's comments on the final product: "We're all very happy and think Ru-soft's team are magnificent!"
